50 jobs lost as Kerry hotel closes

One of Kerry’s best known hotels is to close this Sunday with the loss of 50 jobs.

The Quality Hotel in Killarney, which was formerly the Ryan Hotel, was one of the town’s best known tourist establishments.

The company says the decision to close was due to ongoing trading and financial difficulties.

However SIPTU, which represents hotel workers, hopes a new operator will take over the lease and run it.
