60,000 Eircom users without landline in Mayo

More than 60,000 eircom customers in Mayo were without phone landlines today due to a fault that occurred in software at the Castlebar Exchange.

Eircom repair crews have been attempting to restore the service, but a spokesperson said this afternoon that progress had been slow.
