The owner of one of Belfast's largest taxi companies has called on the police to investigate claims that some taxi drivers working for smaller firms are selling alcohol to passengers.

The owner of one of Belfast's largest taxi companies has called on the police to investigate claims that some taxi drivers working for smaller firms are selling alcohol to passengers.

Stephen McCausland of Value Cabs says any of its drivers would be immediately dismissed if they were found doing so.

He says reports of drivers selling alcohol illegally to late-night passengers are rife and the police should investigate.
