Minister welcomes Financial Regulator's retirement

The Energy Minister said he hopes the retirement of the Financial Regulator Patrick Neary will strengthen public confidence in the banking system.

Mr Neary announced last night his intention to retire at the end of the month, following the completion of a report into the institution's mishandling of loans to directors at Anglo Irish Bank.
