The Irish Exporters Association says 35,000 workers could lose their jobs this year to a sharp decline in exports to the UK and US.

The Irish Exporters Association says 35,000 workers could lose their jobs this year to a sharp decline in exports to the UK and US.

In its end-of-year review, the association says several companies are at risk of closing because of the situation.

It says total exports from Ireland fell by 4% last year, mainly due to the fall in the value of sterling.

It says the situation could be even worse this year unless corrective action is taken.
