Govt to begin talks with social partners on economic woes

The Government is due to begin talks with the social partners today in an effort to come up with a plan to deal with the massive economic downturn over the past year.

The talks follow confirmation that the coalition led by Taoiseach Brian Cowen presided over a budget deficit of €12bn last year.
