Fine Gael MEP Doyle to stand down

Fine Gael MEP Avril Doyle says she will not be seeking to retain her seat in June's European elections.

Ms Doyle is an MEP for the Ireland East constituency and leader of the EPP-ED group in the European Parliament.

Her decision to step down is understood to have been made for personal reasons.

Fine Gael says it has yet to decide on a replacement candidate for the June poll.
