SIPTU and Tara Mines meet to discuss cost-cutting plan

SIPTU is due to hold talks with management at Tara Mines today in an effort to save 670 jobs at the Co Meath facility.
The workforce was put on protective notice on Monday after SIPTU rejected cost-cutting proposals put forward by the company.
The union is putting forward alternative proposals and says it is hopeful of a positive outcome from today's talks in Navan.
It says its proposals deal with the inefficiencies the company is trying to address without the need for major reform of working hours.
