Youth detained after Limerick stabbing

A 17-year-old youth was being questioned in Limerick this evening in connection with a stabbing in the city this afternoon.

A 17-year-old youth was being questioned in Limerick this evening in connection with a stabbing in the city this afternoon.

He was arrested at the scene in the Johnsgate area around lunchtime after another 17-year-old male was stabbed a number of times.

The victim was taken for treatment to St John's Hospital and it's understood his injuries are not life threatening.

The arrested youth was taken to Henry Street Garda Station for questioning under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act, meaning he can be detained for up to 24 hours.
