Troubles legacy report due this month
A major report on how to deal with the legacy of the North’s Troubles is to be released this month, it emerged today.
The consultative group on the past, chaired by Denis Bradley and Robin Eames, will publish its highly anticipated recommendations on January 28.
It has been speculated the group will propose creating a commission to examine unsolved murders from the conflict.
The Eames/Bradley team has denied it will propose an amnesty for those involved in violence.
It has been claimed, however, that bereaved relatives could be offered the option of waiving hopes of prosecutions to help secure information from paramilitaries and security forces on why their loved ones were killed.
