Record levels of rainfall fell last year as heavy showers swept across the country, meteorologists said today.

Met Éireann’s weather summary revealed annual number of wet days were up to 20% above normal everywhere in 2008, with 140 recorded at Casement Aerodrome and 234 at Knock Airport.
