Teenager accused of dangerous driving is remanded on bail

A teenager has been remanded on continuing bail by the Dublin Children’s Court pending sentencing for dangerous driving and failing to stop for a garda.

The 17-year-old boy had pleaded guilty earlier to driving without insurance and a licence, failing to stop when required by a garda, having no tax and dangerous driving in “a manner including speed” at Santry Avenue, in Ballymun, in Dublin, on July 28 last.

Judge David Kennedy noted that the Probation Services was “seeking 10 weeks to complete an assessment”.

He remanded the north Dublin youth, who was accompanied to court by his mother, on bail pending sentence on March 13 next.

The prosecution’s evidence is to be heard on that date when a pre-sentence probation report is to be furnished to the court.
