Pedestrian seriously injured in Mullingar

Gardaí are investigating a road crash in Co. Westmeath in the early hours of this morning.

A 24-year-old man was struck by a car in Mullingar just after 3am. He suffered serious head injuries and is said to be in a critical condition at Mullingar Hospital.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned at Mullingar Garda Station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
