SDLP calls for cross-border new year’s vision
An SDLP assembly member has called for a new vision for the North for the new year.
John Dallat said the new year must include a new cross-border vision for both economies on the island of Ireland to save jobs and that both parts of the island must pull together to prevent an economic catastrophe in 2009.
Mr Dallat said an economic task force across the border, with everyone pulling together, would be a positive first step.
“We need a task force which would embrace all the people”, he said. “The academics, the chambers of commerce and the economic development officers in local councils – people like that, who have the inspiration to do something about it.”
