Drivers warned to be careful
Motorists are being urged to drive with care this morning with icy conditions being reported around the country.
The M7 and M9 in Kildare are particularly bad as is the N24 Tipperary to Waterford road and the N4 Sligo road through Carrick-on-Shannon.
There are also icy conditions on the N20 Cork to Mallow road and on the N6 Westmeath to Galway road.
Patchy fog is also causing problems for drivers in Waterford and Laois.
Gardaí in Kildare are also dealing with a jack-knifed truck which is completely blocking the Edenderry-Johnstown Bridge road.
The road is not expected to re-open until this afternoon.
