Derry boy to be buried today

The five-year-old boy who drowned in a Paris swimming pool last weekend will be buried in Derry later today.

Colum Canning had been on holiday with his parents, his twin brother and his sister to celebrate his sixth birthday.

The dead boy's parents, Karen and David, said they are concerned there was no lifeguard on duty at the hotel swimming pool.

They say the force of water from a large cascading bucket may have pushed him under the water.

Karen Canning said she doesn't want another family to suffer such a loss.

Thomas Cook, the tour operator the family used, said it is investigating but it does not appear the pool arrangements were illegal.
