Elderly woman found dead in Newry

Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at her home in Newry yesterday morning.

The alert was raised by relatives who became alarmed when the woman failed to answer her front door or telephone calls.

Forensic experts are to examine the house at Lower Dublin Road amid concern that the woman may have died during a robbery attempt.

The woman who was in her 80’s had lived alone.
