EU fish quota talks to get underway in Brussels

Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith is due in Brussels later today for the EU's annual fish quota negotiations.

Irish fishermen are urging the Government to resist efforts by some countries to increase the amount of fish their fleets can take from Irish waters.

The Irish Fishermen's Organisation says it is concerned about the changes being sought by France, Spain and Portugal in relation to fishing in the Celtic Sea.
