Public patients wait an average of 2.9 months for surgery

The number of public patients waiting more than three months for hospital surgery has fallen by 15% in the past year, according to figures published today by the National Treatment Purchase Fund.

However, the organisation says more than 15,000 patients are still waiting longer than three months for surgery at hospitals around the country.
