Bypass opens seven months ahead of schedule

The latest phase in the construction of the M8 motorway between Dublin and Cork is due to open this afternoon seven months ahead of schedule.

The 40km Cullahill to Cashel section bypasses the towns of Johnstown, Urlingford, Littleton and Horse and Jockey.

It has cost around €435m and will remove around 16,000 vehicles a day from the four towns, as well as cutting 10 to 20 minutes from journey times between Dublin and Cork.
