Lenihan names panel of prospective bank directors
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has published the list of names from which the major banks will select individuals to join their respective boards.
The panel includes two former Finance Ministers, Alan Duke and Ray McSharry, and former tánaiste Dick Spring.
Also on the panel are Frank Daly, a former Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners, and former Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh.
The panel follows the deal reached with the financial institutions in return for the state guarantee of deposits arising from the credit crunch, and the new directors will be charged with protecting the public interest.
