Molloy to appear before Dáil committee this week

Former FÁS director general Rody Molloy has reportedly agreed to appear before the Oireachtas public accounts committee this Thursday.

Mr Molloy was criticised by the committee chairman last week after failing to appear along with other FÁS officials.

He had resigned from his job with the state training agency two days previously due to controversy over the spending of taxpayer-funded expenses on luxury trips to the US.

Reports this morning say Mr Molloy felt aggrieved at the criticism of his non-appearance as he felt he was no longer entitled to attend following his resignation.

He is expected to face tough questions on Thursday about the spending of the FAS budget, particularly travel and subsistence expenses for top officials.
