Tipperary murder trial postponed until Monday

The trial of a 30-year-old man accused of murdering his former girlfriend's new boyfriend in a bedroom in her Tipperary home last year has been delayed at the Central Criminal Court.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy told the jury of seven men and five women to return on Monday morning for the continuation of the hearing.

The jury had earlier heard in the opening of the case that the accused was unhappy about his former partner's new relationship and, after sending an increasing number of irate and threatening text messages, arrived at Catherine Shanahan's home in the early hours armed with two knives and stabbed Mr Cambridge who was upstairs in bed.
