Former FÁS boss won’t appear before Public Accounts Committee

Former director general of FÁS Rody Molloy will not appear before the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee tomorrow, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Mr Molloy stepped down last night amid criticism over the expense bills of senior executives at the state's employment agency.

Assistant director general Christy Cooney will act as accounting officer tomorrow.

Chairman of the Committee, Fine Gael's Bernard Allen, said FÁS is facing some tough questions:

“We'll be questioning FÁS in relation to procurement policy and value for money policy,” Deputy Allen said.

“We'll also be questioning them in relation to the internal audits that are carried out, and of course the most recent controversy about travel and subsistence.”
