FÁS boss right to quit, say Greens

FÁS director general Rody Molloy was right in deciding to resign his position last night, according to Green Party chairman Senator Dan Boyle.

"Given the level of public concern following a spate of recent revelations which raised questions about taxpayers' money – I think it was good that Mr Molloy decided to stand aside," the Green Party finance spokesman said.

"All of this comes at a time of rising unemployment and a difficult jobs environment generally. It is very important for FÁS to re-group quickly so it can serve the Ireland's work and training needs. Hopefully, Mr Molloy's resignation will give the organisation the space to do this."

"I hope the FÁS experience will serve as a wake-up call to all other public bodies to ensure taxpayers' money is spent prudently."
