Taxi man ‘tried to break windows of crashed PSNI vehicle’
A taxi driver who came upon the aftermath of the road accident in which four PSNI officers died over the weekend has spoken of his efforts to save them.
Barry McArdle says he tried to break the windows on the 4x4 police vehicle, but could not do so because they were bullet-proof.
Another bystander also failed to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.
The four officers died in the early hours of yesterday morning after their vehicle crashed into a wall and burst into flames on the coast road between Warrenpoint and Kilkeel in Co Down.
