Man held after €500,000 cannabis seizure in Cork

A man in his 30s is in garda custody in Cork following a significant cannabis seizure last night.

Gardai say €500,000 worth of the drug was found during a raid on a house in Castletownroche.

The raid was mounted as part of an ongoing operation against a criminal gang operating in the area.

Gardai said the search was carried out by members of the city’s drugs unit at 8pm.

The suspect is being interviewed at Fermoy Garda Station under section two of the Drug Trafficking Act.

He can be held for up to seven days.
