Former boxing world champion 'smashed doorman's teeth'
Former world boxing champion Steve Collins allegedly threatened to put an Albanian bouncer's teeth "on the floor" before assaulting him, a jury has been told at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court
Mr Collins (aged 42) of St Albans, Hertfordshire, England has pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mr Adrialik Voda at the National Boxing Stadium, on June 3, 2006.
Prosecution counsel Mr Sean Gillane BL told the jury in his opening address it would hear how the boxing champion threatened to put Mr Voda's teeth "on the floor" before punching him in the face when he was refused entry to a VIP section of the stadium.
Mr Gillane said the jury would hear that Mr Collins, known as 'The Celtic Warrior', told the bouncer he had "two seconds to move" from the VIP entrance before striking him below the chin, fracturing two of his teeth.
The trial is expected to last three days before Judge Desmond Hogan and a jury of ten men and two women.
