LRC to report on progress in Aer Lingus discussions
The Labour Relations Commission is due to report to the National Implementation Body (NIB) today on the level of progress made in talks between SIPTU and Aer Lingus at the weekend.
The two sides resumed talks at the LRC in an effort to avert possible industrial action over the airline's latest cost-cutting plans.
SIPTU has already served strike notice in the event that Aer Lingus unilaterally imposes its decision to shed up to 1,300 jobs in an effort to save €50m.
The union has tabled alternative proposals which it says would achieve the same savings.
The NIB intervened in the matter last week in an effort to prevent strike action in the run-up to Christmas.
