The heartbroken family of a Mayo man killed while serving with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan were expecting him home before Christmas.

Robert McKibben, 32, from Westport, died along with a comrade when their tank was bombed during a patrol in the dangerous Helmand province on Wednesday.
