Wallstrom: Ireland holds key to solving Lisbon impasse

European Commission Vice President Margot Wallstrom told an Oireachtas sub-committee that Ireland holds the key for finding a solution for the whole of Europe after the country voted to reject the EU's Lisbon Treaty in June.

European Commission Vice President Margot Wallstrom told an Oireachtas sub-committee today that Ireland holds the key to finding a solution for the whole of Europe after the country voted to reject the EU's Lisbon Treaty in June.

Wallstrom said a solution to the impasse couldn't be found by politicians and diplomats alone, but would require the engagement of the Irish people.
