Teenager dies after bus accident

A teenage girl died in hospital tonight, hours after being struck by a bus in central Belfast.

The girl was fatally injured in the accident in Royal Avenue, close to the junction with High Street and Donegall Place.

Firefighters used heavy lifting equipment to free the girl, who was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where she later died.

Police sealed off the scene of the accident for several hours and an investigation was launched.
