Govt launches new forum for Corrib gas controversy

The Government is launching a new initiative in a bid to end the controversy over Shell's Corrib gas pipeline in northwest Mayo.
Local community and interest groups, as well as Shell representatives, will be invited to take part in a community forum.
There has been considerable opposition to the plans to bring gas ashore at Bellanaboy in Co Mayo and the site has been subject to ongoing protests.
A number of mediation attempts in the past have been unsuccessful.
The new forum will look at a wide range of areas.
