Harney denies threatening to quit

Minister for Health Mary Harney has today denied that she threatened to quit the Government following the recent controversy surrounding medical cards for the over-70s.

Reports this morning claim Ms Harney threatened to stand down if the hugely contentious plan to remove the automatic medical-card entitlement from over-70s was scrapped.
