Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has suggested that the Government could row back on the decision to means-test medical cards for the over-70s.

In his Budget on Tuesday, Mr Lenihan said the over-70s would no longer be automatically entitled to a medical card from January 1 next year and would instead face a means test.
