Air travel tax introduced

An air travel tax of €10 per person has been introduced in the 2009 Budget by Finance Minister Brian Lenihan.

An air travel tax of €10 per person has been introduced in the 2009 Budget by Finance Minister Brian Linehan.

This fee will be reduced to €2 for shorter journeys.

“This tax will apply to all departures from Irish airports,” the minister said.

“A rate of €10 per passenger will apply, with a lower rate of €2 for shorter air journeys”

“This new tax is estimated to yield €95m in 2009, and €150m in a full year.”
