Mt Carmel workers vote to end strike
Catering workers at Mount Carmel Hospital in Dublin have voted overwhelmingly in favour of proposals aimed at ending a dispute over their pay and conditions.
More than 60 staff went on strike last week after being told that their jobs were being transferred to a new company without any guarantees.
However, a deal brokered by the Labour Relations Commission yesterday is believed to include guarantees about their pay and conditions regardless of which company takes over the contract.
The SIPTU members have now agreed to end their pickets and return to work tomorrow morning.
