Brothel boss faces confiscation of assets
A Dublin man jailed for three years and fined €24,000 last March for running a city centre brothel operation faces a possible application at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for confiscation of his assets.
Martin "The Beast" Morgan (aged 44) was convicted in February of organising prostitution and running a brothel described by Judge Frank O’Donnell at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court as: "A magnificent operation, highly sophisticated and highly rewarding and not a petty little business working on a shoe string."
The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts that he organised prostitution and ran a brothel at a Bachelor’s Walk apartment on dates from August 22 to October 10, 2005.
Morgan, formerly of Blacksheep Road, Blanchardstown and with addresses at Blackstock Road, London and at Herbert Lane, Ballsbridge denied three charges at the start of his 18-day trial.
Judge Frank O’Donnell adjourned the case for mention for a fortnight on the application of prosecuting counsel, Mr Fergal Foley BL, to discuss a possible application for confiscation of assets.
