4,500 received personal injury awards in first six months

More than 4,500 people received personal injury awards between January and June of 2008, it was revealed today.

More than 4,500 people received personal injury awards between January and June of 2008, it was revealed today.

A mid year report from the Injuries Board shows that during that period assessments totalled more than €113m.

All personal injury claims in Ireland - excluding medical negligence - must be processed through the Injuries Board rather than through the courts.

Chief executive Patricia Byron said the board is continuing to fulfil its mission to deliver personal injuries claims fairly, promptly and transparently.
