Teen injured in Derry shooting

A youth was shot in both legs during a gun attack on a house, police in the North said today.

Two masked and armed men forced their way into a house in the Crescent area of Coleraine, Co Derry, at around 10.30pm last night, assaulted him and then shot him in the legs before fleeing, said a police spokeswoman.

The teenager has been detained in hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

A motive for the shooting has yet been established, said police.

Detectives investigating the attack appealed for anyone who was in the area and saw what happened or noticed anything suspicious to contact them.
