Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council is reportedly planning to outsource its waste services to a private operator.

Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council is reportedly planning to outsource its waste services to a private operator.

Reports this morning say the council has decided that its own collection service is unsustainable due to rising costs and competition from private operators

The council is also reportedly considering dropping out of the joint waste management strategy agreed by the four local authorities in Dublin.

It is unclear if the area's elected councillors could block the proposal, but this morning’s reports say SIPTU is resisting the move.
