Gardaí seize 700 cannabis plants

Detectives seized 700 cannabis plants from a house in Co Monaghan today.

One man in his early 20s was arrested after the raid on the address in Readuff, Loughmourne, Castleblayney.

Officers from Cavan/Monaghan Divisional Drug Unit and the Garda National Drug Unit were assisted by local gardai from Shantonagh.

Gardaí said the cannabis plants have an estimated value of €240,000, subject to analysis.

A spokesman said: “One male in his early 20s was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Castleblayney garda station.”
