Last section of Shannon tunnel laid

The final section of Limerick's Shannon tunnel has been sunk into place on the river-bed.

It's the last of four 20,000 tonne concrete structures to be laid beneath the river as part of the €500m Limerick tunnel project.

Once complete in 2010, the 915 metre tunnel will form part of the Southern Ring Road linking Limerick's Dock Road with a dual carriageway leading to Shannon and Ennis.
