Elderly to be delivered free bottled water in Galway
Free bottled water is to be delivered to elderly people affected by Galway's latest water contamination crisis.
It follows a five-hour meeting between councillors and officials last night to discuss the lead contamination in parts of the city's water supply.
Bottled water will be subsidised for other affected residents while efforts are made to find a long-term solution to the problem.
Meanwhile, in Cork high levels of lead have been detected in the water supply in Mallow following routine tests.
Residents in the Beecher Street area are being advised not to use their tap water until further notice.
The HSE is due to carry out more tests on Monday.
