The number of planning permissions being granted for houses and apartments has fallen by 17% in the past year, according to the latest quarterly figures from the CSO.

The statistics agency says just under 20,000 planning applications were approved in the second quarter of this year, compared to almost 24,000 in same three-month period last year.
