Taxi fares to increase by 8%

The Taxi Regulator has approved an increase of more than 8% in taxi fares across the country.

The increase will come into force from the start of November.

The highest available tariff will also be levied during the Christmas and New Year's holidays, while the soiling charge will be increased from €125 to €140.

The regulator says the changes reflect the increased cost of owning and operating a taxi.
