Ahern denies receiving bribes from O'Callaghan

Bertie Ahern has again denied that he received bribes from developer Owen O'Callaghan in the 1990s.

The former Taoiseach is back in the witness box at the Mahon Tribunal today.

Counsel for the Mahon Tribunal Des O'Neill spent much of this morning bringing Bertie Ahern through correspondence between himself and the tribunal.

The correspondence relates to Mr Ahern's knowledge of, and involvement in, the Quarryvale development in Clondalkin in Dublin and issues relating to tax designation.

The tribunal is also investigating issues surrounding plans to build a national stadium at Neilstown in west Dublin.

Mr Ahern denies allegations that he received bribes from Owen O'Callaghan - the developer behind the projects. Mr O'Callaghan also denied the allegation.

In a letter to the tribunal he says he was not requested, nor did he do, any favours for Owen O'Callaghan by way of providing tax designation or otherwise.
