Last-ditch talks begin on national pay deal

Last-ditch talks to hammer out a new national wage deal will begin today.

Employers’ groups and unions met on Friday for two hours of separate discussions with Taoiseach Brian Cowen as the worsening economic climate made any substantial pay increases unlikely.
