Flood waters have started to recede in some parts of the country after torrential rainfall caused serious problems in many areas during the weekend.

AA Roadwatch say major roads in Carlow, Tipperary, Galway, Laois and Offaly have reopened this morning, but there are still some closures, as well as surface water in most areas.
