Irish national reported killed in Afghan shooting
An Irish national has reportedly been shot dead during an attack on a group of female aid workers in Afghanistan.
Afghan officials say three female aid workers and their Afghan driver were killed during the gun attack in the southern province of Logar today.
The women, who worked for the New York-based International Rescue Committee, are reported to be an American, a Canadian and an Irish national.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it has no official confirmation of the reports and the nearest Irish consulate in Iran is investigating the claims.
The IRC provides aid to refugees and victims of armed conflict around the world.
Today's shooting comes just week after aid agencies warned of increasing attacks on their representatives in Afghanistan.
